Workshop Overview

We all know how tough it is to meet customer demand, manage inventories, reduce costs, and increase profitability.  For today’s manufacturers, real-time, accurate inventory is vital to success and is a critical element in the effective use of a plant’s planning systems.  Businesses that struggle with inaccurate inventory data, large year-end adjustments of physical inventory results, or a lengthy annual physical inventory process should consider adopting a cycle counting program, or improving the one they have. A properly implemented cycle counting program can raise the performance and efficiency levels of your business and provide benefits that reduce costs, improve financial reporting, and save you money.

This APICS workshop reviews the methods used in implementing and sustaining a successful cycle counting program.  This interactive training is designed for business owners, accounting personnel, warehouse workers, and inventory planners.  When you return to the plant you will have learned the following:

  • Identify why accurate inventories are important.
  • Identify problems with conducting an annual physical inventory.
  • Understand what cycle counting is and is not.
  • Know what the administrative requirements are for setting up a cycle count program.
  • Recognize how to conduct an ABC analysis of your inventory.
  • Determine the plant discipline requirements are for cycle counting.
  • Know who should cycle count.
  • Understand how to analyze and reconcile inventory variances.
  • Verify that proper inventory controls and cycle counting best practices are in effect.

Agenda:

  • 5:00pm Workshop Ends
